Seva is a global nonprofit eye care organization that transforms lives by restoring sight and preventing blindness. Since 1978, Seva has provided sight-saving surgeries, eyeglasses, medicine, and other eye care services to more than 72 million people in underserved communities around the world.
Globally, at least 2.2 billion people have a vision impairment, and of these, at least 1 billion people have a vision impairment that could have been prevented or is yet to be addressed. Our programs have been instrumental in making eye care available to those who can't afford it. Scope of Work:
The Senior Accountant is a hands-on position responsible for financial support and guidance to Seva’s Sight Programs as well as ensuring the timely and accurate processing of all accounting transactions. This position assists the Senior Finance Director in the preparation of financial reports and works closely with the Senior Finance Director in establishing systems and procedures as needed, as well as in the completion of special projects and the facilitation of audits, compliance and reviews performed by an outside CPA firm.
Main Responsibilities:
Manage program expenses (coding, budget vs. actual, cash flow projections)
Manage general ledger, account reconciliations, financial record-keeping, and month-end/year-end close processes. Provide assistance to Program Managers with grant request and reporting
Budget Development
Expense allocation to programs
General Ledger account reconciliations
Monthly journal entries
Timely and accurate coding and posting of all cash receipts
Bank Deposits and reconciliations
Assist with the establishment and maintenance of internal controls
Preparation of monthly financial reports
Assists Senior Financial Director with Board meeting preparations and presentations as requested
1099 NEC, Misc, & Mortgage Interest Annual Filing
Quarterly Sales Tax
Accounts Payable / Payment processing (checks & wires)
Department’s quarterly report
Audit Schedules
Other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited college or university
Proven experience in accounting and finance
Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial regulations
Highly organized, detail-oriented and flexible
Ability to prioritize, time management, and work under deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel, and in accounting software
Excellent analytical and communication skills
