Responsibilities

This position requires individuals to perform complex accounting assignments following established procedures in areas such as financial reporting, intercompany accounting, general ledger, accounts receivable, customer invoicing, sales commissions, royalty accounting, fixed assets, tax reporting, and revenue recognition. Individuals in this position exercise independent judgement, resolve problems independently, and require minimal supervision and assistance.

• Prepares standard and nonstandard journal entries and general ledger account analyses
• Performs monthly financial close tasks associated with their specific area of responsibility
• Provides support to management
• Serves as a liaison with external auditors and prepares analytic schedules with commentary
• Performs an enhanced role in system implementations and upgrades of financial or other systems
• Provides guidance to lower-level staff
• Updates documentation for compliance to policies and procedures and possesses an understanding of IFRS and local accounting regulations as they relate to their position
• Capable of performing Senior Accountant tasks
• Depending on the specific area of responsibility, additional job duties may include the following:
- Calculates and accounts for complex sales commissions and bonuses
- Provides input to royalty agreement negotiations and ensures that royalties are properly accounted for
- Performs system setup of general ledger accounts and departments, manages posting of general ledger journal entries, and ensures completeness
- Performs accounting of intercompany transactions in accordance with financial reporting requirements and reconciles with intercompany partners
- Assists in tax return preparation
- Assists with financial reporting using the global consolidation tool, including completing supplemental schedules, preparing and analyzing summaries of P&L components, capitalized software calculations and accounting, and facilitating variance resolutions for monthly financial close cycles
- Analyzes significant customer orders and contracts for complex revenue recognition and provides support and advice to the legal and sales teams during contract negotiations
- Manages revenue recognition for significant and global agreements
- Prepares and documents fair value studies
- Performs deferred revenue accounting
